Jamaica Missions Trip: Supporting the Next Generation

kkThe Original Bible Scrolls is excited to support Michaela (17 years old) and her team with fundraising for a Jamaica missions trip. After Michaela worked to save $50 to add to her fund, the money was sadly stolen from her back pack. Here’s what she wrote about the insodent.

  1. A special thanks to everyone who has helped me get a great start with my fundraising. I was so excited after I worked and saved $50.00 to help pay for my missions trip. Unfortunately, someone at my school stole the money. I am learning to pray when something like this happens. At first I was saddened that someone would take the money. Then, on the same day, I received an anonymous donation for twice the amount stolen! That is amazing. It’s so nice to see how God is watching.  Again thank you for giving!

(Request for a contribution)

Hi, my name is Michaela and God is doing something special in my life!

I want to capture everything that He is dong and be prepared for the ministry that I know He has for my future.  As a high school junior, I am a member of the National Honor Society, a student leader at my church, a member of the track team, and I work on the weekends. This summer, I spent 2 weeks at a leadership camp called Higher Ground at Kids Across America in Missouri. For one week I served during an inner-city missions trip in Kansas City.

Some people ask, “Do your parents make you do that stuff”? The answer is, “No.” Sometimes they ask if I am doing too much, but this is my desire and what God is calling me to do. My faith is no longer simply because of my parents. God has touched my heart.

During the Thanksgiving break (Nov. 19-26), I have the opportunity to go on a Youth Missions Trip to Jamaica with One Community Church. Would you consider partnering with me for this great opportunity? During the trip, I will be ministering to students my age in the local schools and helping my church team build a home for a needy family. We will also reach out to the community to share the Word and the love of Christ. This trip will benefit me and my spiritual growth as much or even more than the people that I will serve.

Would you consider partnering with me with your prayers and financial assistance?  I need to raise $1700. I am asking 17 people to donate $100.

Would you help me reach my goal? You may also give any amount that God places on your heart. Your prayers are also appreciated. My deadline to raise my total trip cost is November 10, 2016. To give an amount other that $100. please visit my GoFundMe Page.

If you partner with me, look forward to a report about the great ways God used your generous contribution during my trip.

Thank you for reading and considering my request. Please know that my family is praying for you.

Michaela has raised over $400 so far. Click here to make a $100 donation for this missions trip to Jamaica.

How Bible Scrolls are Made

banner 2

For years Bible Scrolls have inspired and motivated people. We believe God’s Word is the most powerful tool to help people excel in daily living and overcome the challenges that are inherent with everyday life. In 1997, approximately seventeen Bible Scrolls were created for a few friends and family. The popularity quickly spread and the scrolls have now been given to family and friends across the world.

The beautiful handmade paper comes from the remote mountains of Northern Thailand. Over 600 years ago the Karen Hilltribe people found a remarkable bark that naturally peeled from the trunk of a tall broad-leafed tree. So began the craft of making natural paper without destroying or cutting down trees. This industry has helped the native Hilltribe families have a source of income and a reason to help save and not deplete these tall beautiful mountain trees.

The people who make Bible Scrolls™ work together, to encourage family, friends, associates, loved ones and anyone seeking God’s truth. The personalized verses are often read out loud, along with whispered prayers for the recipient of the Scroll. Once the print is complete, the paper is torn by hand, symbolizing Matthew 27:51,

“Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom and the earth quaked and the rocks were split.” The cross, which is sewn by hand, has a knot around it representing 2 Corinthians 1:21-22, “Now He who established us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.”

It is our pleasure to bring this personalized Scripture art from God’s Word to you. We pray that the words in your Bible Scroll will penetrate your heart, change your circumstances bringing hope, joy, and encouragement.

“For the word of God is living and active and sharper than a two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

The Amazing Benefits of Bible Study

There is a reason the Bible is the #1 best-selling book of all time – something special happens when you study it for yourself! I don’t mean simply skimming through the pages. I mean seriously studying the Scriptures – seeking to know God, His ways, and what He wants for your life.

Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

There are many best-selling books from motivational and sci-fi, to self-help and mystery, but none are alive! They do not divide soul and spirit. They can’t judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. They are good for entertainment and contain great information, but they can’t reach into your mind and become a lamp for your feet and a light for your path (Psalm 119:105) giving you a personal infusion from God Himself!

Conflicts occurring in our culture challenge Christians to know God’s Word. If you don’t really know what you believe, anyone can distort the truth, and lead you in a direction counter to God’s Word and His will for your life. If the Devil distorted scripture to promote His own agenda (Matthew 4:1-11) with Jesus, we certainly can expect the same to happen to us.

If you believe God’s Word is true, seek to know what it says, what it means, and how to apply it to your life. Make a firm decision on what you believe – not based on your own feelings or culture, but based on the Word of God on the One in whom you believe – Jesus Christ. Continue Reading…
